Weekend Bike Ride
I have got absolutely no plan this three days weekend and I knew that for a few weeks. A couple of friends kindly invited me to join their plans but I thought I would rather be as alone as I could be. I did try to take a short trip to somewhere but failed to find interesting options mostly because I started too late. What was the remaining option? Biking of course.
Fortunately the forecast was great, I decided to take a ride to Hakkeijima Island, although I don't have my love to the place. The destination could be anywhere if it's far enough but not too far. I've done my laundry and breakfast and started at around 11:30, after finding out that my GPS was out of power. Well, it was not going to be an adventure because I have crossed most roads in the route today. Forget the artificial star and look for the real stars.
The ride was smooth and the day was absolutely lovely. I was lost around the bridge to cross Tamagawa River but I could smell water. It took more than an hour and a half to get to Yokohama MM21 but it was a fun ride.
After MM21, I went ahead to go to Hommoku area where I got lost. I was completely lost in a residential area where nothing but narrow streets and steep hills were. After a few rounds of circling, I was able to find a wider road that gets out of the area, but my heart was kind of broken at that time. I mean, when there was nothing to do at the destination, what did I have to be there?
Then I realized that the best friend of mine lives near here. He might have not been at home even if it was a weekend because he is an airline pilot, but fortunately he answered to my call and he was on his VAC the day. I visited his brand new house and spent a few hours chatting and discussing about everything as if we were trying to plug every hole we found during a few years of absence. As always, he has got a great insight and gave me a great advice.
I left his place at around 16:00 and rode to my place, surprisingly, in an hour and a half. I had an anonymous lieutenant rider in front of me all the way from Yokohama to Kawasaki so we could go in 40km/h. I rushed to the balcony to pick up the laundry, took a bath and had some wine. I was not alone, I was not able to get to the destination of the plan (it turned out I was on the right street when I thought it was not when I was circling). No GPS record but it's all in my head. Thanks buddy!
